Description
A 17-mile coastal trail that links nine 21st Century architecturally renowned buildings and structures along the Strait of Dover. It runs from Capel-le-Ferne to Deal. The CHALKUP21 in Kent project by Dover Arts Development was installed to inspire creativity and raise awareness of cultural spaces in the community. There are different walking options for those who want to draw, photograph or simply go for a long walk with incredible views. The shortest walk starts at Dover Esplanade and finishes at the White Cliffs. It takes 1.5 hours and showcases some public artworks including Tonkin Liu's ‘Three Waves' (2009), Almar Tischler Wood's ‘Start/Finish Line' (2011), and Elaine Tribley's six ‘Dover Totems' (2017). The longest walk takes 10-11 hours. It covers all nine featured CHALKUP21 buildings and sites.
