Description
Dartford Heath is crossed by roads and four car parks surrounding it and is one of the last remaining lowland heaths in the southeast. It is home to a variety of habitats ranging from lowland acid and tussocky grassland, to ancient and semi-natural broadleaved woodland that is dominated by silver birch and oak. Heathers, gorse, foxgloves, and bluebells thrive among a variety of wildlife including lizards, birds such as the chaffinch, and roving, three ponds create a haven for newts, frogs and toads with dragonflies and damselflies to be seen, too. Trails from just over 1km to 5km can be found on the Dartford government's website with a map and more details.
