Description
Fan Bay Deep Shelter is a tunnel complex constructed in 1940/41 as accommodation for the gun battery above, and today, this network of abandoned tunnels is virtually all that remains of these long-forgotten defences. The tunnel tour also includes a chance to see two sound mirrors, which were early acoustic warning devices during the First World War.

Accessibility
No wheelchair access, and the tunnels are only accessible by 125 steep steps.
Dogs
Guide dogs allowed. Please be aware that some dogs can become unsettled in the tunnels due to the enclosed, dark surroundings and unfamiliar smells
Train
Dover Priory - 2 miles.
Bus
Stagecoach 81, Dover to Deal and Sandwich. Alight Castle Hill - 1 mile walk, via Upper Road. There's no footpath on this road, so take care.

White Cliffs Visitor Centre: £6
Disabled parking is available at the White Cliffs Visitor Centre.
Cycling
Bike racks are by the Visitor Centre.
Advisory Notes
Check on the website if tunnels are open before visiting. Tickets are on a first come, first-served basis. card payments at the deep shelter, to use a card visit the Visitor Centre shop, or the South Foreland Lighthouse shop.
