Description
Shingle beach is gently sloping, flattening to a wide expanse of sand and mud that is exposed weather tide retreats. Numerous groynes, with a promenade with cafés as well as a pier in the middle of the shingle beach, with a man made sandy beach to one side and a harbour arm you can walk out to. Royal Life Saving Society trained lifeguards on patrol during June and September.

Dogs
From Neptune jetty heading west to the pier, dogs are not allowed on the beach at any time of year and must be kept on a lead on the promenade. From 1 May to 30 September, they are also not allowed on the beach between the pier and Lane End.
