Description
In the heart of Sandwich housed in the historic building of the Guildhall is the Sandwich Guildhall Museum and Archives which hold documents and material related to the history of Sandwich. The collection includes maps, plans, photographs, as well as books and research that provide a background to the historic town’s history, and nearby towns. It also includes the 1300AD Sandwich Magna Carta in this 16th Century building. This Museum has been refurbished due to a Heritage Lottery Fund bid and reopened in May 2017 with new additions including activities for children, special exhibitions, and animations created by Royal Holloway College, University of London. Worksheets and activities available for all ages often tie in with the rolling programme of temporary exhibitions.
