Description

Built in the mid-12th Century, the Conduit House was part of the monastic waterworks that supplied nearby St Augustine’s Abbey. It once housed an octagonal tank from which water flowed to the Abbey via a lead pipe. The remains of this medieval conduit house stand on a steep west-facing hillside in Canterbury, to the east of the Abbey whose spring water supply it was built to protect.
