Description
The Reculver Towers are still used as a navigational marker for ships at sea, and the twin towers of this medieval church are a dominant landmark in Herne Bay’s skyline. It is the site of one of the earliest Roman forts built against Saxon raids and later became the venue for an Anglo-Saxon monastery before becoming the parish church for Reculver. The twin towers were built in a remodelling of the church in the 12th Century, and are the ruined remains of the early Roman fort.
