Description
Smugglers escape routes, protected grassland and seashores, and the White Cliffs can all be found at Folkestone Warren, an important site for wildlife, history and geology. The Warren is a mix of cliffs, woodland, grassland and seashore, the latter of which is home to many different species of birds, offering safe nesting sites for peregrine falcons and ravens. This Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is full of wildlife, chalk grassland rich in wildflowers and rare insects, and the is 30-40 different plant species and you can try a 'mini hike' to search for insects and wildflowers of the chalk grassland, and also go on a fossil hunt. you can find their fossils if you search carefully. The East Wear Bay beach is a good place for fossil finds, and you can even join a fossil foray. Folkestone Warren is managed by White Cliffs Countryside Partnership on behalf of Folkestone & Hythe District Council.
