Description
Yockletts Bank Nature Reserve is a must-visit site for orchid aficionados, as well as wildlife and woodland lovers on its 23 hectares that is an Area of Outstanding Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Described as probably one of the best sites for the lady orchid, this ancient woodland is also home to twayblade, common spotted, early-purple, fly and other orchids. Spring flowers such as violets and primrose, a mixed woodland of ash, hornbeam and beech on the valley slope coexist with wildlife including nightingales, woodpeckers, adder, grass snakes and slow-worms.
