This event is a tribute to the queen’s Platinum Jubilee and also commemorates the life and works of Charles Dickens. Events and activities will also take place alongside the Jubilee big screen in the castle grounds where you can watch the many special events for this Jubiliee. There is also a 4 day craft fair that will run alongside the picnic site, and there will also be appearances from themed entertainers and characters.

Wordsmithery is hosting two days of an exciting line-up of prize-winning writers and musicians to perform and some of the writers will be taking a good dollop of inspiration from Charles Dickens and the Victorian era with Welcome to Cloisterham at Rochester Castle Moat. As part of the Jubilee events in Medway, and will be joined by Steampunk group Great Kentspectations, so feel free to wear your bonnet and bustle. The event will have a relaxed fringe festival theme, with two main performance tents, the Raven and Empty Chair stages, plus activity tents in the moat. There will also be a bandstand outside of the Boley Hill car park, and in the Kings Head car park, and a steampunk market area. Part of Medway’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

A trio of events to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee – though you must book for each. Firstly, Kent’s Biggest Beer Garden sees the ancient woodland of the gardens transformed, with an open mic with up and coming talent entertaining everyone during the day. Lots more excitement to be had including a BBQ and craft activities. Secondly, at the Platinum Jubilee Children’s Party, the resident DJ will be involving the children in plenty of fun and games and will end the evening by lighting a beacon for the Queen. Thirdly, at The Picnic In The Garden, Reuthe’s will be attempting to make the longest picnic blanket in Kent. In addition, music will be playing throughout the day and the beer tents will still be open. Moreover, on both days the Royal Trail will be open and the Alpaca will be making an appearance.

Ramsgate Tunnels will be celebrating the early years of Her Majesty’s reign with a free afternoon of fun, laughter, and music from the period. There will be tours of the tunnels, with a free museum, Ramsgate in film and enjoy the Salute to Dad’s Army entertainment. This includes Vera Lynn and George Formby tribute artists, the Home Guard from Warmington on Sea and lots more providing nonstop songs, laughter and sketches from the ’40s.

The Grand Finale also sees Bettina Walker entertain with a rousing Last Night at the Proms style flag-waving set.

A Beacon, one of over 1,500 Platinum Jubilee Beacons lit across the UK and Commonwealth for the Jubilee celebration will be lit in Princes Parade Car Park in Hythe on the 2nd June. In addition, on Friday there will be a Service of Thanksgiving. Moreover, on the Saturday the U3A Swing Band – Undercroft play, and there’s a Jubilee Best Crown Competition in the High Street with the Town Mayor awarding the Best Crown. The Hullabaloo Band play at the Oaklands Bandstand too. On Sunday enjoy a Jubilee picnic lunch, and there will also be live music, a bouncy castle, circus workshop entertainment, face painting, and lots more activities.

At Tenterden throughout the 4 day event there is face painting (2nd & 3rd June), giant children’s games, a royal liveried historic K6 Jubilee telephone kiosk where you can take a photo with the Queen, Fiddle sticks Ladies Morris dancing (4th June at Bodium & 5th June at Tenterden) and on the 4th and 5th at Bodium station there will be a display of Land Rovers.

A range of events for Tenterden’s Jubilee Celebrations includes a 4-day exhibition to be held in the Town Hall, the lighting of the Town’s Beacon on the Recreation Ground on Thursday evening, preceded by a Special Service in St. Mildred’s Church. Moreover, on Saturday The Platinum Party and the Palace event will be live-streamed in Woolpack Barn, and a Jubilee Dinner & Dance takes place in St. Michaels Village Hall. In addition, on Sunday, The Big Jubilee Picnic takes place on Tenterden Recreation Ground.

Tales Through Time – A Right Royal Gallop

As part of their celebrations for the Queen’s Jubilee, The Up Road Theatre will be performing their newly penned production Tales Through Time – A Right Royal Gallop. Aristocratic Lady Rosamund is travelling across Kent with her flustered PA/woman of all jobs Miss Marshall. Unfortunately, their car breaks down en route, leaving them stranded at the Castle Westenhanger. One thing leads to another, and soon they’re taking their audience on a rapid ride through history. Once back in 2022, thoughts turn to the Platinum Jubilee and the glorious reign that the celebration is all about.

Dover Town Council invites you to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, for a free fun-filled family day with music, entertainment, activities, plus a cake competition. There are plenty of free activities including Zorbing, an assault course, bungees, a climbing wall, children’s soft play, and even a river dipping adventure. There is live music too – so make sure you take a picnic, and a blanket and join in the Jubilee fun.
