Description
An English nobleman, having a heavy head from drinking, took a drink from the spring he saw foaming from the ground and felt so refreshed that he spread the word about the wonders of the water. Thereafter, since 1606, tourists who visited Tunbridge Wells also went to the spring to 'take the waters', according to Visit Tunbridge Wells, the local tourist information centre. In the 18th Century, it became a daily custom for people visiting the town to have a drink at the spring, and this tradition can be experienced by visitors today.
