Events in Kent include a trio of Faversham Charter Market, the Best of Faversham Market on Saturday & Faversham Antiques Market on Sunday. LITFEST RETURNS MAIDSTONE
The Maidstone LitFest is back for its second year, offering something for everyone. A range of events and appearances will be happening at various venues in the heart of the town. Expect talks, readings, comedy, and poetry spanning multiple genres, along with workshops and group sessions. WUNDERBAR KENT
Enjoy all things German this weekend with not one but two German-inspired events. Oktoberfest at the Gravesend Borough Market where you can experience Germany’s and the world’s biggest beer festival with food, music, and plenty of beer. In Folkestone enjoy a Bavarian Weekender with the Bettesteiner Footstompers Oompah Band. Celebrate steins, sausages and singalongs at the Wünder Harbour at Folkestone Harbour Arm’s Good Yard. Both events are on the 5th and 6th of October 2024.

ROCHESTER CATHEDRAL’S HISTORIES
Catch the last day of Scriptorium: The Illuminated Histories at Rochester Cathedral. The show brings to life the rich tapestry of Anglo-Saxon artefacts and medieval manuscripts in a spectacle that promises to captivate the senses and ignite the imagination. This artwork incorporates iconic images including many from the British Library and the collections of Rochester Cathedral. HALLOWEEN IN CANTERBURY
The Halloween-themed annual spooktacular fundraiser is a new interactive trail, The Beaney for Fright at the Museum: Prisms & Potions at The Beaney House of Art and Knowledge. The evil alchemist, Blanche The Bland, is trying to drain all the colour and fun from The Beaney! Help the museum and solve puzzles, pick up clues and discover treasures from the museum collection. Described as the friendliest fringe festival the the Faversham Fringe’s performing arts programme includes theatre, comedy, magic, mentalism, dance, poetry, spoken word, storytelling, improv, and hypnotism. There’s Kitty Cassis’ Hiya!, Pineapple Princess, Astroballs- A Work in Progress (pictured), Bald Man Sings Rihanna and lots. lots more. DEAL’S DOGFEST
See Kent are heading to PawFest, at Betteshanger Country Park in Deal, this weekend. There are lots of canine capers – dog shows, races, live demonstrations, a supersized dog ball pit, trails, dog trials and lots more. There are also children’s activities too with a kidzone with a funfair, face painting and a bouncy castle. Plus a shopping village for dog delights and more. On the 5th to 6th October 2024. ECO FAIR
The Sunken Garden Eco Fair focuses on wildlife, ecology, conservation, tree care, gardening and sustainability, with workshops and information points by 30 representatives of local and national organisations sharing their important environmental work, including Pegwell Bay Nature Reserve, Birdwise, Trees for Cities and Windmill Community. Events include bee-keeping to bird watching, mushrooms to hops, growing edible plants and using less plastic and much more, there will be plenty to discover and discuss. One of many events in Margate for 2024, it also features BBC Gardener’s World’s Frances Tophill opens the programme of talks, sharing her experience of sustainable and productive gardening. Ecologist Hugh Warwick follows bringing his knowledge and love of hedgehogs and Keith Sacre of Barcham Trees talks about the importance of tree diversity.
