Prospect Cottage Garden in Dungeness and its famous garden was the home of the late filmmaker Derek Jarman. It was and continues to be, a place that inspired artists, queer icons, and creative minds of all varieties. By booking one of the limited places you can step inside the cottage and soak up the atmosphere like never before. Derek Jarman (1942-94) first discovered Prospect Cottage in Dungeness in 1986. Together with his long-time companion Keith Collins, Jarman turned Prospect Cottage and its surrounding gardens into an oasis of creativity. It was here, in Dungeness that many of Jarman’s most iconic films were conceived and created. Today, it remains much as it did when Jarman was alive. Visitors can view artworks, gain greater insight into the life and work of Derek Jarman and reflect on the profound importance of this special place. Accessibility
Due to the historic nature of the cottage itself, doorways and hallways are narrow and there are small steps into the cottage. Dungeness is a shingle surface with limited pathways
