Our Festivals In Kent in 2022 round up features pop, classical, rock to country music, tribute acts and food and drink events, there is plenty for all tastes and ages. Tunbridge Wells Poetry Festival

Range of events at the Tunbridge Wells Poetry Festival including Henry Normal, Costa prize-winner Hannah Lower, and collaborations blending spoken word with both contemporary and classical music from harp and piano. In addition to these nationally and internationally acclaimed performers and performances, plus the best of local poetry and offer a variety of opportunities for emerging talent to shine.

Stour Music Festival
All Saints Church Boughton Aluph, Ashford
17th to 26th June 2022
This festival of early music is celebrating its 60 anniversary and includes 3 short operas by Rameau, Handel and Purcell, first-timers include the 4 natural trumpets of Spiritato in a programme with the Marian Consort that inspired Bach. Plus The Swingles, Musica Secreta whose all-female soundworld of 16th Century and in a steamy Argentinian twist, Tango Siempre with a pair of fabulous Tango dancers. In addition, BBC Radio 3 to record further Stour debutants, The Consone Quartet (Mozart & Schubert), and closing the festival, Purcell’s The Indian Queen with its menagerie of hissing snakes, croaking toads and high tenors.

Egerton Music Festival

Enjoy music, films, an exhibition, music quiz, bands & BBQ, opera and comedy, picnic, plus lots more. Held every three years, the event is organised by a small group of enthusiasts living in the village.

The Great Comp Music Festival

Chamber music performed by artists of international reputation in an intimate, comfortable converted stable; outside a 7-acre garden in its summer splendour surrounding a 17th Century manor house. Described as a mini-Glyndebourne of chamber music, the festival returns after 2 years’ absence.

Sandwich Folk & Ale Festival

The Sandwich Folk & Ale Festival is a multi-arts festival that highlights traditional and contemporary folk life and folk arts, in a beautiful medieval town. Featuring live music, traditional dancing, folk sessions, open mic nights, quiz nights, and lots more. With a vintage funfair on the Sandwich Quay, filled with classic rides, stalls, live music and family-friendly entertainment – this is a festival for all.

A 16-day Summer Festival to enjoy world-class music and art in this beautiful and historic corner of England, which encompasses the ancient ports of Deal, Sandwich and Dover. The Musique Cordiale Festival in Faversham is an annual mini-festival, beginning with a concert of chamber music and will conclude, after a series featuring an exciting variety of choral, orchestral, chamber and jazz concerts, with Gioachino Rossini‘s Petite Messe Solennelle (Little Solemn Mass) and other works to be announced.

The UK’s most anticipated Soul Festival is back in Kent for 2022. Margate Soul Festival is held annually on the first weekend of August and brings together an exciting international line up over 3 days. The main outdoor arena The Redstripe Sunset Stage overlooking the sea, provides the backdrop to 2 days of live music, DJ’s and dancing, whilst The Margate Winter Gardens and Olby’s Soul Cafe offer 6 rooms of music for thousands of happy people throughout the weekend. Described as the festival with the UK’s best tribute acts, Rock the Mote in Maidstone covers decades of great music. The event is considered the next best thing to the original artists at a fraction of the cost, with stadium staging, lighting and sound. Featuring tributes to Fleetwood Mac, Fall Out Boy, ACDC, Guns N’ Roses, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Dua Lipa, David Bowie and Whitney Houston. Rock The Mote will also be introducing Thunder Dome, a brand new stage with rock tributes to Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica and more. Plus DJ performances, a beer, cider and ale village, street food, cocktail vendors and fairground rides.

Broadstairs Folk Week Festival

A traditional folk music festival that for 55 years has become a magnet for people who love authentic music. New bands, old favourites and all the delights you expect to see at a folk festival. This year they have a new, dedicated dance venue at the Sarah Thorne Theatre, where there will be dance workshops, lunchtime and evening ceilidhs. If you have ever fancied Appalachian clogging or finding out what contra dance is, this is the place to be and it’s all included in the Festival Lite ticket. Plus concerts, a craft and music fair, children’s festival dances, festival campsite, Morris dancers and pub sessions.

Margate Pride

For 2022, this LGBTQIA+ arts festival includes the Pride Rally, events and a party at the Oval Bandstand in Margate. Support artists and local businesses at the Margate Pride Art Trail, where you can expect films, exhibitions, art, music, talks, art residency, performance, education and workshops for the whole community. Also, linked events on various dates at locations throughout Margate, TBC.

Visitors can join in with the traditional hand-picking of hops, as well as meet historical characters from Kent’s past. Plus sample up to 50 varieties of locally brewed ales and ciders while absorbing the fantastic live music programme, or take time to visit one of the last working coal-fired oast houses in the country, and witness the hop-making process from picking to drying. There’s also lots of Kent Life entertainment to enjoy, from animal encounters to tractor rides to live music.

We Will Meet Again

Same place, the same great line up of attractions and entertainment – but bigger, better and for longer than before for this year’s We Will Meet Again At Betteshanger Country Park in Deal. It is another great event for Festivals in Kent in 2022 and it promises something for everyone, with re-enactors and military vehicles, trade stalls, arts and crafts and 1940s fashion, music and song. A static Spitfire and UH-1 Huey helicopter are among the many attractions.
