Description

Broomhill Park in Rochesteris another Medway park that has the Green Flag award. This open space in Strood has panoramic views of the Medway and the Thames and is part of the North Downs. It features swings, climbing units, fitness equipment, woodland, sculptures, a wildflower area with lots of walking routes. Broomhill is part of the North Downs ridge of chalk that was formed in the Cretaceous period. It has also been important for farming, limestone quarrying and flour grinding. Visitors may find prehistoric fossils, especially oyster shells, washed up by the sea that used to cover the area.
