Description
The atmospheric Oare Marshes in Faversham are an important habitat for overwintering and breeding wetland birds and are of international significance. These marshes have a past as part of the gunpowder industry as you can spot the remains of buildings and boats. They are also of international importance for migratory, overwintering, and breeding wetland birds, with freshwater dykes, open water scrapes, reedbed, saltmarsh, and seawall. The reserve consists of grazing marsh - one of a few left in Kent, with Highlands and other cattle as well as Konik horses. There are walking trails, as well as viewing hides.
