Description
St Mary the Virgin Church in Eastry in Dover is a Christian Norman church located in the historic village of Eastry, which was once the capital of the east Kingdom of Kent. The Lathe of Eastry, as it was known in the 7th Century, was home to the Saxon Royal Hall where princesses Etheldred and Ethelbert were murdered in 665. The Normans replaced the church building of the Saxons in the late 11th to early 12th Century and was rebuilt by the monks of Christ Church Abbey, Canterbury in the traditional, early English style in the 13th Century.
