Pick Your Own Pumpkin field and Spooky Trailer Ride are taking a break for 2026 at Broadditch Farm Shop in Gravesend. However, there is still some spooky fun: Little Frights Trail, and Pumpkin Carving Workshops are back for Halloween at Broadditch Farm.

Erriot Wood in Sittingbourne has decided to close its pumpkin patch. 2025 was their last season.
The Pumpkin Funyard at the Marsh Maze on Romney Marsh has been cancelled.
Delf Farmshop & Nursery Ltd in Sandwich no longer has a pumpkin field, but you can buy them at the shop.

Before you head out to the fields across the Garden of England, here are our handy tips on what to wear, choosing the perfect pumpkin, making the most of it in the kitchen and what to do with it after Halloween.
Be Pumpkin Prepared
Wear boots and suitable clothing for wet and muddy weather, as the fields can get messy! Old clothes are a good idea, as is a spare pair to change into if you are going by car. Some pumpkins can have prickly stems, so gloves may come in handy. And, as always, be prepared for the weather!

But before you head out to the fields, there’s an art to selecting the perfect jack-o’-lantern-to-be and keeping it fresh. From spotting signs of freshness and choosing the right variety to storing your pumpkin and knowing when to carve it, our handy tips will help you get the most out of your Halloween find.
Top Tips
Lasting Power: According to Pumpkin Moon, you can store pumpkin and squash for months before eating, provided they are undamaged and kept in a cool, dry, frost-free place.
Weight Matters: Select a pumpkin that feels heavy for its size, as this can indicate that it is in good condition.
Fresh Is Best: Choose a pumpkin that feels firm, has no soft spots, bruises or sunken areas, as that can indicate that it has started to deteriorate.
Stem Check: A firm, securely attached stem is a good sign. Avoid those that look brownish, mushy, or dried out.
Looks Count: Pumpkins come in all shapes, sizes and types. Whether you prefer deep ribs, bumpy skin or something a little unusual, think about the look you want for your Halloween display. If you plan to cook with your pumpkin, check with the patch about the variety and whether it is suitable for eating.
Tap It: A ripe pumpkin often produces a deep, hollow sound when you tap it gently.

Forestry England is urging people not to leave pumpkins in woodlands for wildlife to eat. Although social media posts sometimes encourage people to leave leftover pumpkins as a treat for woodland animals, pumpkins are not a natural part of the woodland diet.
Eating discarded pumpkins can make some wildlife, including hedgehogs, unwell. Leaving pumpkins in woodland can also attract animals to places where they may not normally feed, potentially spreading disease and disrupting natural behaviour. The same concerns apply to leaving pumpkins out for wildlife in gardens.
