Description
Tannery Field is part of the Westgate Parks series of open spaces which include Westgate Gardens, Toddler's Cove and Bingley Island Nature Reserve. Archaeological surveys have suggested that Stone Age families once lived in this area and long before Rheims Way was built, the area was part of the city’s largest tannery, hence the name. A sculpture of a bull has been installed celebrating this history. Plants such as purple loosestrife and willows have created a haven for wildlife and an interesting place for visitors to explore.
