Description
The Folkestone Mermaid by Cornelia Parker is a bronze, life-size nude statue inspired by Folkestone resident HG Wells’ story The Sea Lady and Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Mermaid. The concept was developed by artist Cornelia Parker in 2011 during the Copenhagen Climate Conference. The statue looks out at sea, emphasising the threat of rising sea levels and endangered sea populations. Part of Folkestone Artworks.
