Hazlitt Theatre in Maidstone opened in 1955 and presents a wide range of touring productions, including theatre, comedy, music, dance and film. It hosts a variety of community events and family shows at the theatre and at outside venues. There are two performance spaces: the main Hazlitt Theatre, seating 336, and the more intimate Exchange Studio, seating 135. They also have a youth theatre and opera group, with the venue hosting over 350 productions each year.

Accessibility
Capacity for four wheelchair users and their companions in the theatre and four spaces in the studio. A wheelchair is also available for use free of charge; book in advance. There is also lift access from Rose Yard. Dedicated support is available, and disabled parking bays are directly outside the entrance of the Hazlitt Theatre on Earl Street. The theatre also operates an Access Membership Scheme, as advised by Nimbus Disability and recognises the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower.
Free Touch Tours
Visually impaired patrons and a companion can take a free touch tour before the show, where you can be guided around the stage to familiarise yourself with the environment. You can feel the stage sets, props and possibly costumes an hour before the start of the show (subject to the producer’s permission). Ask at the Box Office for further details when you book your tickets.

Good To Know
Specified doors and box office will open one hour before for the main house or 30 minutes before shows in the Exchange Studio. Children under 16 years must always be accompanied by an adult.

Advisory Notes
The Hazlitt Theatre operates a ‘no refund’ policy. If applicable, tickets may be exchanged for another performance of the same show in advance, for a small fee. In the unlikely event of a performance being cancelled, a full exchange/credit/refund will be offered free of charge. They do offer a Ticket Refund Protection scheme for a fee.
