Description

St John’s Cemetery in Margate is a typical example of a picturesque Victorian funereal landscape that provides the setting of some grand monuments, it was opened on the outskirts of the town in 1856. Also according to  Historic England, the cemetery was originally 10 acres, now 35 acres and is 'home' to several renowned local figures including those from the Sanger family whose background was in the circus and theatre worlds.
