Sweeps Of Fun
One of the many festivals in Kent is the Rochester Sweeps Festival over the May bank holiday. This free, three-day event is one of the largest May Day celebrations in the world, now running for over 60 years. Immerse yourself in a vibrant atmosphere filled with Morris dancers, live music, and lively entertainment. The festival brings the historic town of Rochester to life, transforming it into a riot of colour and sound. Rooted In Tradition
The festival's origins date back to the Victorian era. Back then, chimney sweeps had only one day off a year – May 1st. To celebrate, they would parade through the town's high street, singing and dancing. The festival continues this tradition, showing the town's rich history.

Bus
Arriva Southern Counties provides a frequent 10-minute bus service daily between Rochester and Chatham Maritime.
Train
On the 5th of May trains to Rochester are disrupted, and bus replacements will be available. or travel to Strood which is 10 only a ten-minute walk to Rochester.
Parking
Parking is available at Jackson's Field in Rochester (ME4 6TJ), a 10-minute walk to Rochester High Street. £3 per vehicle, closes at 7jpm, no overnight parking.
